Say, didn’t we win the election?

It’s not about ‘The Perfect Being the Enemy of the Good” or some other cliche – though that one does fit. It’s that the American people have already received more benefit from legislation and policy put out by the Obama Administration than they did during the eight long years of The Predecessor. Unless you’re a fan of bad wars and kicking the Constitution around.

Wait! There’s been a terrible mistake…

I was drafted into the Army on July 23, 1969. I didn’t dislike military life, but it soon became apparent that I had no place in it and it had no real need for me. I was a spectacularly mediocre soldier. I was one of only a few who the Re-Up officer didn’t even try to give me a re-enlistment talk.

Yet since then, the only recurring nightmare I have is that I get drafted again. I try to explain I’ve already done this. But no body listens and I’m still trying to explain as they hand me a helmet, rifle and boots and tell me to get moving.

Invariably, I wake up in a cold sweat.
